Recently an admirer asked me, “Nagual, how long have you studied and been interested in lucha libre?”

Always glad to answer this with an open heart.

I was born and raised in CDMX. During my childhood and adolescence, lucha libre was everywhere around me on TV, Arena Mexico and my culture and my people. To be born Mexican means that lucha libre flows through our veins.

I was always magnetized by wrestling. I wanted to take part in it. I wanted to soar, to fly, to become something, to transform.

In lucha libre, many luchadores inherit the mask from their fathers. My path was different because my father was never a luchador.

I discovered in my 20's that a dead uncle of mine had wrestled and worn the mask. His death and his memory inspired me to go further with my apprenticeship in in wrestling.

The rest has been a mix of personal and phsyical discipline, learning from mistakes, practice and strategy. For me, mind and body convere, I don’t see them as a separate. In other words, I have had to amplify my intellect through reading, being a student of coaches and teachers, but also using my own emotions, intuition and critical thinking to flow through time as a luchador.
